A New Beginning.

After a very rash decision to spend money that I don't have much consideration, I finally took the plunge into geekdom and registered my own domain. You see? This is what happens when I am left at home alone for too long on my own.

So how has YOUR weekend been?

You'll have to bear with the standard template for now, because I've exhausted my design capabilities today. It was hard enough figuring out how to import my old Typepad entries over here. My brain still hurts. But hey! There's my picture!

I do need some help with getting a free template I found up and running on here. Any volunteers? Oh, and could SOMEONE please tell me how I add a favicon into my Wordpress CSS? I'm going mad. You know you want to help. You'll be paid with love. Lots and lots of love.

(Yes, my blog may be all spruced up now, but that doesn't change the fact that I am still technologically incompetent. If only!)

And don't forget to change your links & feeds to my new address!

  1. Congratulations. It looks terrific. Do you have email facility with your new domain, either as a hosted or redirected email link? If you do you can change your email address to something like aly at alyndabear.com - how cool would that be!

That IS pretty awesome. I've set up one: alynda@alyndabear.com. Now to see if actually works!

  2. Ooh, fancy digs, Aly! Way to go!

If this template is widgetized, and you have the HTML code for your favicon (I'm not sure what you mean by that), you can just paste it into a Text object. But if the template isn't widgetized, I'm not sure what to tell you... I second the suggestion that this typeface is a bit tough to read, both font and point size.

Off to update my feed reader!

  8. congrats on your new home! it's purdy. as for the favicon, you have to shove the code somewhere in the section I think....but I kinda don't remember. Isabel asked me last week and I don't think my instructions helped her. So basically I am as blonde as you. I just got lucky with mine!

  10. Oh neat! I have been using Wordpress for a couple of years now, so I know my way around it quite well... let me know if you need help with anything. :)
I was actually thinking about not renewing my domain this fall, as it has only been redirecting anyway... so it is not a proper domain the way yours is.
Did you get your blog with Wordpress.com or did you buy webspace and install it all yourself?

  11. Congrats on the new move. I have been considering doing the same thing myself, but if you are incompetent and then some so haven't had the guts as of yet. I have no clue what it costs much less how to go about doing it.
