Because Dancing in Foreign Countries is Awesome.

I spent yesterday complaining, whinging and blowing my nose more times than I would like to count attempting not to think about my current cold of death, trying to make the day go faster so I could go to sleep and continuing my freak out over the plane trip that I've just purchased. But I also spent a good part of the day stalking watching a random American guy dance in countries all around the world.

Not only did Matt visit (and dance in) some amazing places and put together some amazing memories, the lucky bugger was sponsored to do it. And now? I hold him totally responsible for my sudden and overwhelming desire to be just like him. I want to visit heaps of the places he visited during his travels, some of which I had never even heard of before. It's incredible! Climbing Mt Killimanjaro, swimming with stinger-free jellyfish, visiting Macchu Picchu, Antarctica, gah! I have about a dozen places I want to add to my travel list now.

The idea about moving to England to live and work, was that I'd also get to go back to Europe and visit/re-visit different countries whenever I could. Perhaps while I'm doing that, I should come up with my own signature photograph in every place I've been to, to keep as a memento of sorts. Ideas?

(If you're not interested in travelling, I'd still recommend you watch his videos. If only for the sake of some awesome sights and some terribly fabulous moves.)

  1. You'd be so much cuter in a video like that, plus I'm sure you've got some better moves. He's been to some pretty amazing places. Just think of all the adventure that awaits you. How exciting.

  3. some people take teddy bears or dolls or something and take photos of the doll instead of themselves. Kind of like Flat Stanley.

  5. Crazy Americans! :)

I heard about him, but I didn't watch his videos till just now. I think I was jealous. Now I know I am right to be jealous.

  6. I love that site!! When I was in 8th grade, if you missed school for a vacation, the math teachers required you to take a photo with your math textbook at your destination. (Let's hope you're not toting a math book around Europe, though.)

  7. Okay so I don't suggest you do this, but on a junior class trip in HS a friend of mine took a picture with every single garbage can in Disney World.

HAA Just thinking about that made me laugh.

    What if you do mailboxes?

  8. Do you chew bubble gum? You could have a picture of you blowing a giant bubble in all those exotic locales.

  9. I found this blog a while ago (the Matt blog) and had the exact same reaction!! Another "Hey, I'm traveling around the world" blog friend takes pictures of herself doing cartwheels in every place she visits. The Great Wall of China, the palazzo in Venice, in front of Pyramids... it is really quite adorable. :o)

  11. You can do your own version of this video. Start working on those line dancing moves you've been doing with your mom, and you're all set.

Thanks for posting the link to Matt's site - what a great video! (In fact I even started watching the 20 minute video where he talks about how the whole thing started - too much time on my hands perhaps!
