Overheard in the Classroom #6

[It's our last day of school for the week. It's only 6.30am and I'm already deciding between throwing a tantrum or bawling my eyes out, because it's a certain time of the month and damnit, everything is frustrating me today. Plus it's going to rain. Which means I'll end up doing playground duty on my rostered one day off playground duty. It's certainly shaping up to be wonderful. Definitely the kind of day to drag out one of my kidlet posts before I mope around a little more.]

This one should probably be titled "Overheard on the Oval" instead of the classroom, as that was where we held our infants Athletics carnival last week.

Quoted one girl as she hopped into a sack, ready to start racing;

"Oh, I feel so good in the sack."

I think she's announcing that just a couple of years too early, in my humble opinion. And also, I apparently have my mind in the gutter.

(Wait . . . I've just realised that my international readers might not appreciate the humour in that statement: to be "good in the sack" usually means to be "good in bed." Or something. Perhaps you can google it?)

  1. Totally understand "good in the sack".
How I would love to hear that come out of a little kid's mouth. Too funny!

  2. We know what the sack means here in US America. In fact, I think it's generally accepted that "sack" only means "bed" here. I find it delightful when foreigners refer to sack lunches or grocery sacks!

  3. Yup, good in the sack. Gotcha. Of course, if I was from the midwest, I would have assumed you meant sack. As in sack racing or sack of potatoes. Also, it's funny if you add "between the sheets" at the end of your fortune from a Chinese fortune cookie! Those take on a WHOLE new meaning when you do.

  4. I, too, feel good in the sack. I'm pretty sure I would necessarily announce that at an olympics or something, though. :) How cute. Teachers get all the best kidlet goss.

  5. Uhh..
If she's saying that now, I think there might be another kidlet attending school by the time that girl's about 20. Because boys will hear that and go "Well, let's give it a go!"
And then, as Perez Hilton so delicately puts it, she could be "sperminated".

Don't worry about having your mind in the gutter... that's exactly what I (and others by the look of it) thought of too!

We had dictation( which is funny in itself if you watched Summer Heights High lasst night). The sentence was Is it true they wrapped the children's presents really quickly?

One kid wrote Is is true they rape children quickly mmmmmmmmm does NOT look good!

  8. Yeah, she'd totally be appreciated for the wrong reasons over here in the states. At least she's confident about her abilities.

  9. Yeah, I knew what that meant, too. Hehehe, funny kids.

  10. You're very kind to make sure we all get your joke :) Looks like the sack is not quite the same as a frozen coke.

  12. Aren't you so glad that you have all of us to tell these stories to? They are way too good to keep to oneself.
