Brotherly Love.

I'm taking the easy way out with today's question, because even though teaching the kidlets the Thriller dance is exciting? It's also extremely mind-numbing. I also have the world's largest headache after practising for several hours today.

Natalie had a question for me; "Do you have any siblings? If so tell me about them!"

I have one sibling, Ajay. He's 20. He drives me mental, but I really do find him endearing. At times. And because I'm lazy, I'll copy you in on an old post I wrote for him. This should fill you in on the ups & down of our brother/sister relationship.

One of the downsides to moving overseas NEXT MONTH (!) is that I'm missing out on a few special occasions early next year: My grandma turns 80 in March, and my baby brother turns 21 in April. I really wish I could be here for those.

  1. Aawwww!

Kind of makes me wish I wasn't an only child...
    Is cute!

And when you move, Jase will have to take over the Thai delivering duties! What will Ajay do with himself then?

  2. My goodness, I think you just described the relationship between my 17 year old daughter, and my 14 year old son. He has always been my sweet angelic boy, and she the loud attention drawing one, and thus, he gets her into trouble faster than a jackrabbit on coke. She simply cannot help but rise to his bait every time. I'm getting better at catching it, but he's wily that one.

I can only hope they will someday have the relationship you two seem to be heading towards (not sure if you're all the way yet!?) I always tell them, the oldest relationship you will ever have is with your sister/brother. No one else will know where you came from, and what makes you the way you are. Cherish it.

  3. Oh my gosh, that was such a beautiful post that you wrote for your brother. I was the younger sister, so I was always the angelic little brat ratting her out. Love the picture of the two of you as well. Hope your headache goes away and that you have a wonderful weekend :)

  5. You could be describing the relationship I have with my younger brother. He drives me absolutely batty sometimes, but I can't imagine having anyone other than him as a sibling. As you get older, hopefully the young annoyances will flip towards mutual respect and love. That's where we are now that we're in our 30s and it's pretty darn fantastic!

  6. Thank goodness for the internet at the phone! I get to stay in touch with a lot of my significant family events that way... but it's still tough to be away.

  7. Hi, I'm a newish reader of yours! Wow, your letter is so heartfelt. Makes me wants to write to my two younger brothers. And to a few others in my life, quite frankly. In this age of email and cell phones, a letter is so touching!

  11. We have similar relationships with our prospective brothers. But it's still hard being far away.

  12. Oooooooh! pick me, pick me!!! wait, you already DID! I was the youngest too, and I recall doing some of those very things you mentioned; getting my sister grounded and such. But you probably told him he was left on the porch by gypsies, like my sister did. Thanks for answering- and 21 sounds like a significant enough birthday for some parents to fund a trip to visit his one and only sister!

  13. Ha you just described me & M (or Grimbo as he calls him self online) my baby brother who is 4 years younger and lives in the states now. We fought like cat & dog growing up but were as tight as rope I could tell him anything and he would never tell but we would really fight between us we smashed 2 or 3 windows, broke furniture and bones. He threw a knife at me once and it stuck in my head & I hit him with a door. He pushed me down the stairs for a cookie and I screamed so loud that I bust his ear drum. But my mum had a novel way of dealing with us unless she saw who started it we would both get into trouble, (that way we got no special treatment mum had no favourite) M threw something at me, I ducked it broke the window I still had to pay for half the window & take half the punishment!
I haven’t seen M in 2 years & I miss him but I know when I do we will be back to finishing each others sentences and fighting even now! But the important thing is we really do love each other regardless.
