Before I begin, could any lurkers in the shape of my boyfriend please exit the blog now?
I'm not a huge fan of Valentines Day, but I do like to get into the spirit of the day by having some sort of gift ready for my other half. This year, I'm finding it tricky to come up with something extra special, as I can't really create anything home made this time.
So I'm putting the question out there for you guys to have a chat about;
- What do you buy the bloke who seemingly has everything?
- What are you planning on buying your bloke this year?
- And if you are of the male gender, what would you like to receive?
And for the sake of all things pink, chocolatey and heart-shaped, if you are a Valentines grinch, just pretend we're talking about ... a birthday. The above questions still hold.

I do the card and flowers. I also do creative things like a special lotion with a reflexology foot chart wrapped around it tied with a ribbon. Quirky things like giant chocolate bar with the requested electric toothbrush taped to it. Set up an email to go every hour on the hour saying SHMILY (see how much I love you)
My bloke has always appreciated the Victoria's Secret ensemble I put together...technically, it's for me, but he always seems to appreciate it more than I do. ;)
Before we knew we were getting Smalls and decided that she would be our Valentine to each other, I was planning on getting Tim a Tie Clip. He's been wanting one since having to dress up for teaching every day, and we never do anything really big for V-Day, so it seemed perfect. If I have time, I still may sneak out and get him one!
I always think the website firebox is a great bet for buying bloke pressies. I have bought my man a monster piggy bank as part of his pressie. Sounds sad I know, but you feed it money and it makes noises and gets angry when you try to take the money out.
This year I'm getting the boy a movie he wanted and taking us out to dinner. Nothing too big but still thoughtful.
Good luck! :)
MB is a big fan of wine, so I bought him two bottles for Valentine's Day.
male gift ideas:
1. oral sex
2. remote controlled helicopter
3. taco bell gift certificates
4. a funny book by the onion
5. oral sex
6. a go-kart
Usually I get him tickets to something, because even if he has everything, he doesn't always have things to do. Or the latest tech gadget he's been coveting. Those two seem to do the trick.
I'm still trying to come up with some project involving either sexy pics of me and/or cute ones of us together ... but I'm going to have to work fast! Feb 14th is sneaking up on me.
1. a new one of whatever he loves but doesn't need, eg. bass guitar #17
2. pretty woman on dvd - turns out he really DOESN'T have everything
I have no idea. I still am stumped when it comes to blokey gifts.
Plus, making things gets really hard once you live with the person. You have to hide everything, plus hide that you're even making anything.
I say you plan a nice day where you can a) do something that reminds you of home and b) celebrates the fact that you are on an adventure together in London.
We go pretty low-key for Valentine's Day, so this year, I just got something he didn't get for Christmas. Do you have the remains of Jason's list, if he makes one?
And I always make a dessert. Boys seem to like cupcakes, I find.
I have the same problem... DH has pretty much everything he wants that we can afford.
I *was* going to go up to the expensive import market and stock him up on his beloved HP sauce, but, then our Aussie friend goes and brings him half a dozen bottles. ~snaps fingers in frustration~
I did find a really good card that is very 'us', but, I'll keep looking for a little something extra...
I'm getting mine cologne. Versace to be exact.
I've done candy, but then I end up eating it.
I always find some sort of geeky gadget for him. There's a website, http://helpachickpick.com/, that helps ladies pick out gifts for the men in their life for v-day! Good luck!
I got AS some Chocolate Miis!!! We only do edible gifts, so I thought this was quite creative.
I cannot help here. I have no bloke.
A gift certificate to a nice restaurant that you guys want to try? A ride on that big Ferris Wheel?
we just order in dinner together and have wine and cuddling. Better than any present I could buy!
How about a nice plant for the apt? Too boring?
I have the same challenge: what to get for The Hubby who has everything???
Good luck, Miss Aly. Since you are both homebodies at heart, why not have a nice night in? Valentine's Day, next to Mother's Day (Mothering Sunday) is one of the busiest nights in both restaurants and flower shops.
Why not get an awesome takeaway and a movie? That's what I'm planning on after Lovely Daughter is safely tucked up in her wee bed.
Tim's birthday is the 20th,so he gets nothing special for valentine's day...
But he gets something big for his birthday.
Not sure yet what to get him this year though...
What about cooking dinner? I don't know. Im bad at this
We're not really Valentine's Day people over here, but for Christmas I got R the gift for the guy who has everything: Bacon salt. I'm serious! It's a guy's dream come true.

Okay, my 'bloke' (Hehe, Excuse me while this American is amused at that word.)
Anyway, my boyfriend doesn't even come close to having everything, but I still don't know what to buy him. It's weird, it's like he's just as happy with me as he would be if I brought him gifts or now. Weird.
If I was going to, I would probably buy him something in the lines of lingerie. For me...
I think he would appreciate that as much as anything, and if it makes me feel good? What the heck! ;-) Don't forget to update us on what you got him.
Movie tickets, a nice dinner, a sightseeing tour you can do together????
iwantoneofthose.com for future ref is usally a good one
but you saw what i got R a set of motherboards turned in to costers for his coffee i am also going to get him some hazel nut cofee syrip as it's his fav plus hopefully we are going to see cloverfeild at greenwhich tomorrow rather than thursday!
i will probably get given chocolates from thorntons if he knows whats good for him (only kiddin) or he will forget which is normal. we try & keep it under £10 as it can get really silly!
good luck seeya hugya *G*
Well, I've bought mine some stuff from Lush.com. Weirdly, he is really into their handmade soaps, and says he doesn't see why women should be the only ones to get all the flowers etc. Mind you, he also says that he doesn't see the point of Valentine's, shouldn't need a "special" day, blah, blah, blah, so it's usually a bit of a non-event in our house...
You can never have too many blowjobs. At least that's what I hear.
We usually don't do gifts, but this year I got Joel two books. He has checked this one book out of the library twice and returned it without finishing it, so I bought it for him... and another that Amazon recommended.
Music and books are always good. If I asked Mr. Hot what he wanted though, he would say "Sex".
Which, is fine, y'know, but it's not like he doesn't ask for that EVERY day. ;-)
i'm paying joe's entry fee for his strength and endurance competition. that's what he said he wanted. before that, he wanted a home improvement book.
Boring for a lot of people, but it works for my man: we go to a movie and he gets to pick which one. (As long as I get popcorn, I don't care what movie I see!)
I like to get cologne - that way its for him, but since im the one who has to smell him, its for me too! :) this year's choice was Kenneth Cole Reaction (with the added bonus of a possible trip for two to las vegas!! www.reactionofattraction.com - just enter your favorite pick up line!)
Nicky
i'm still laughing at the word bloke :D
I'm sort of cheating on this one. I noticed that DH's favorite bourbon is running low, so I went ahead and got a new bottle. It not that exciting because I would have picked it up for him any other time of the year, but that stuff is expensive!
That and a card are probably going to be it, unless I see something cool (and cheap) Weds. night when I'm scheduled to go out to dinner and shop/movie with a girl friend. Pretty sad for someone whose last name used to be "Valentine."
Hmm. I also thought Valentine's Day was strictly a girl's holiday.
I think a really nice homemade meal would do the trick. And I love those cards that when you open them they sing cutesy little songs!
If he has everything, what about a nicer version of something he already has?
I got my boyfriend a nice leather laptop bag/briefcase that he can carry all his stuff in for work. He already had one, but it was a pretty generic one from the Apple store, and everyone had that same one.
I posted this same damn thing and I got 3 whole comments. You are clearly much cooler than I am.
So, here's what I came up with on my own. I'm making him a coupon book called the "no compromising coupons" in which he gets coupons like "you get to control the remote all night and I won't bitch." and "you pick the movie and I'll go, I'll even pay and I won't so much as bat an eyelash when you want to see something that doesn't interest me at all" and "you pick the meal, I'll cook it, in nothing but an apron."
You get the gist. I'm also offering to wash his car, give a massage for as long as he wants... you know.
I'll be doing a Wanting Wednesday tomorrow for V-day but I'm got Wills a guitar strap made from a vintage tie. He loves chocolate so I'll also get him some candy as well.
I see a lot of Blow Jobs on the list of suggestions but Steak and BJ day is March 14th so that gets it's own holiday here in the states :)
I have no bloke, but I'd probably make a nice dinner of his favorite foods and give him a DVD of a good guy movie, and maybe a book of love coupons.
Edgar and I are giving each other a $10 limit, which is fun because there really is no pressure for "the perfect gift." It means, candies and little dorky things are compltely acceptable!
I LOVE the new look of your blog, by the way!
I got Jon a new pair of sneakers :) Romantic-no, practical-yes!
I bought him a print of a photo he really liked and matted and framed it. Then I bought a cork board and printed some pictures for him to take to work (he requested this one).
Lindz, I hope your man doesn't ask for bacon or fried chicken if you're cooking in nothing but an apron. ;)
Ron and I have always had a $5 cap on Valentine's Day gifts. This year, I got a box of Cars-themed kiddie Valentines (we're nuts about Route 66 around here) and put them all over the house this morning while he was asleep. I stuck a handful of them on his chair, a handful on his computer, and a handful around the mirror in the bathroom, and then I dumped the rest in his bag like extra-large confetti. Drew a big heart on the bathroom mirror with a dry-erase marker, wrote "I love you" in the middle, and handed him one of the Valentines on my way out the door. Not the best thing I've ever come up with, but cute.
I hate the way they make kiddie Valentines these days. They used to come in tiny envelopes, which would have been more fun. The new ones are designed so the glossy side with the picture folds inside, and then the plain white part is on the outside, with a "To" and "From" line on it. Hard to hide secret messages in that....
I know this is a little late...but I got my boyfriend a new watch. I got lucky. His just broke. He has everything..so I was a little worried about what I was going to get him. So what did you end up getting your bloke?
