Having a kitten in the house is hard work! In the (almost a) week since we brought Oscar home. In that time, we've gone through quite a bit together already.
We've been up all night together, being pounced on and having our toes gnawed.
We've slept peacefully, sprawled out kitty between us.
We've had some seriously gross odours in the house; who knew that something so completely stinky could come out of something so cute?
We've enjoyed lots of snuggles, and a truckload of purring.
We've even lost kitty a few times - hiding under the space near our fridge.
Oscar loves his bed, loves the lounge cushions, and loves attaching himself to arms that happen to be within his general vicinity. He has a cry that sounds like a Raptor dinosaur from Jurassic Park. (And I am totally not joking, you have to hear it to believe it.)
But we're loving every second of it. Oscar has settled in really well, is a happy little camper and is absolutely precious when he's snoring at your side. And as for J, well, he's turning out to be quite the kitty daddy. Not bad for a guy who's never had a pet.
How can you not be in love?
*These are the words uttered by Jase after Oscar decided to flee from him in terror this morning. Why was he fleeing? Because guess who got the awesome job of wiping Oscar's post-poopy butt, which I might add, kitten was not too pleased about? Mmhmm.
Oh, and as an afterthought, I'm going to be organising my US holiday dates properly sometime this week. If you'd be wanting to have a coffee, or a sightseeing trip, or even just a HI! moment and I happen to be in yer state, let me know!

Adorable little kiddo you have and I'd love a coffee if you come through Dallas (TX).
Awwww.
Kittens are great fun- especially the all-too-short stage after they've stopped soiling the house and before they get so aloof that you feel like a glorified waiter.
Kittens add so much to a family.Pretty quickly, you be wondering how you got along without him. Enjoy!
Yeh the smells can be hard! "Smelly cat smelly cat what have they been feeding you" phoebes song really is apt but the cute factor makes up for it you might want to curb the sleeping in the bed thing too it’s ok when they are small but when they turn in to fat cat adults they push YOU outa bed ! LOL believe me Seeya hugya *G*
That first picture is so freakin' cute!!! I think sometimes we just see how cute our pets are and forget how much work they can really be. But they are worth it!
Oh gosh, he's a cutie. And I'm in TX (Dallas/Fort Worth), come visit!
Awwwwwwwwww, he is sooooooo cute!!!
Oscar is adorable, smelly butt and all!
Yeah, you know we are totally going to meet up in NO, right? Kitty is cat-tacular. Love him!
Poopy kitten butts... Fizzy was so bad when he was a kitten. You're lucky Oscar is a short hair! I ended up trimming his butt fur a few times. They get better when they grow up, until they go and get a sick tummy.
he is really quite adorable, aly. i'm glad you're enjoying your new love so much.
Awww I miss having a kitty.
It wont be long until he's all toilet trained and you wont have to wipe his poopy bum no more.
Aww, so cute! And you'll be thrilled to learn that all those wonderful things you've been doing with him this week won't go away as he gets older! Hehe, in fact, just today Phill remarked, "How could something so stinky come out of something so little?" so...yeah, unfortunately the stinks keep coming. But it's the little things that make everything worth it, like snuggling up to them at night and having them come over and sleep on you when you're feeling sick. It makes you feel so loved. :)
And you should totally join WCB.
Haha, it IS amazing how stinky such little guys can be. Those pictures are just precious!!
Isn't having a kitten the best thing? The stink of their poop though...yuck.
Anyway, your little sweetie is really, really cute.
AWWWWW. Oscar looks like like my Trudy. Isn't it funny both of their names are very old fashioned too?
Too cute!
Oh my garsh, he's so cute. I'm so glad you finally got a little British kitty to round out your house!
Oh, he's so adorable! They are so funny at that age.
You may have to put up with all of that but he really is SO CUTE!
Such a cutie!! Feel free to stop by DC!
aw he is just so dang cute.
Oh my! He is sooooo flipping cute! Your life will never be the same :D
Cute kitty!
I'm still hoping to be able to meet up at some point. If only your SF time coincided with BlogHer it would solve all my problems! :)
He's beautiful, I am very jealous, I wa sgiven the choice between a baby or a kitten and for some reason chose to go the baby direction! Sometimes I think a kitten would be far easier :D
MAN! I so wish I could see you when you come to the US. Stupid southern tour. C'mon, what's wrong with the AMAZING MIDWEST!?
Aly he is so cute!
Did your mum tell you that we now have an Oscar too!!
Adorable! He and Edie should be friends!
Are you coming to Boston?
I can't remember.
Or am I going to have to meet you somewhere?
What a cute little guy! I have two furbabies of my own, and I cannot imagine life without them.
Adorable!!! But I think his brother Wizard needs to keep him company!!!! And if you're already wiping one stinky butt, what's two ????? :) Beth
