My First Pumpkin.

Halloween isn't much of a tradition where I'm from in Australia. We have the occasional trick or treater, but it's certainly not a holiday like it is elsewhere in the world.

We are staying in this year, but I was determined to do something to mark the occasion. Enter the one lonely pumpkin I saw sitting on a shelf in Marks & Spencer...

I actually had a great time creating my (albeit very classic) masterpiece. I didn't realise how much work went into it... and bar from one panicked moment when I happened to punch my pumpkin's eye out (literally) it was fairly simple. Jason watched from afar... sharp objects usually have a tendency to end up slicing off his skin.

So now let me present my pumpkin carving process in all its glory - with an Oscar snapshot thrown in there for good measure. Happy Halloween!

Did you do anything out of the ordinary this Halloween?

  1. That is one of the scariest pumpkins I've ever seen! Good job.

    Oscar seems to approve too!

  2. So cute! Excellent work! We decided to stay in and cook dinner here in hopes of getting trick-or-treaters. So far, nothing doing. I saw some down the street but nobody has come by here yet. Sad face. But it's not even 6 p.m. yet so I'm still holding out hope.

  4. Nice work! And good job saving the eye :P

I went to my first Halloween-themed party this year, which was for a joint birthday party. Yeah, I don't do Halloween, but I never thought I'd end up at a Halloween party, so that's my out-of-the-ordinary thing!

  5. As far as I can recall, it's the first year in a long time that I didn't carve a pumpkin, so that's out of the ordinary for me.

    Very good job on yours!
