And here we are at 26 - still blogging all these years later and still loving it.
Last year was quite possibly the best birthday I had ever had - and let's face it, I doubt anything could ever top it. A surprise trip vacation, a long weekend in Prague & a completely unexpected proposal. Um, best birthday ever?
It's funny too, because just before we boarded the plane and flew away for that fateful weekend, I'd written a post that was of the whatever will be, will be variety. To quote myself; "My 25th year is going to be one of no regrets, and no expectations." Here we are twelve months later, and guess what? I can't think of a single regret. Not a one. It looks like acceptance was the way forward - who knew I'd get smarter as I got older?
So what did I accomplish in my twenty fifth year? Aside from the obvious 'getting engaged' answer, I think I've done a fair bit. I stayed in a job I liked until I didn't enjoy it anymore and left. I joined a gym and made the effort to go 4-5 times per week, which I'm still doing as of right now. I travelled to Paris with my best friend and fell in love with Disneyland all over again. I started planning for our wedding and travelled back to Sydney to do it, narrowly getting caught up in the crazy volcanic ash chaos. I got diagnosed with PCOS and began to understand my body just that little bit more. In short, I just went along with whatever life threw at me.
I used to freak out about getting older, but you know, I'm really not that bothered by it any more. I have so many things to look forward to - a little travelling, the massive international move back home, getting married to my amazing boy, saving money and building a home, starting a family if all goes well. Age is just a number, after all.
And if I should ever start to feel sad about getting on in years, at least I'll always take comfort in the fact that Jase is two years older than me, mwahaha. Kidding, kidding! Here's to a great twenty sixth year.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I have that perspective as well - my hubby is a year and a half older than me as well! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday! Love that you can't find a single regret this past year - you're an inspiration!
Happy birthday, friend! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are much better at birthdays than me. I'll be 29 in september and I'm looking into botox and boxed wine as a way to cope. Hence I should probably steal your no regrets concept for my next birthday instead of weeping into cheap booze and putting poison into a place very near my brain.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR! May 26 be as wonderful and better than everything before!
Happy Birthday! psssst: i didn't feel old til 27, so live it up! :) yay for july babies
ReplyDeleteDisneyland was pretty amazing. I'm sorry I wouldn't go on the drop-you-thirteen-storeys tower ride... I just couldn't do it again. And I was cold and grumpy. Was this before or after our second Mickey Nutella Donut Thing?
ReplyDeleteThat could've had something to do with it too...
I'm glad you had a happy birthday. You do deserve the good days.
Now tell jason he should've bought you that camera.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday was filled with lots of Harry Potter magic. :)

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I've been blogging since I was 22, and it is amazing how much a part of my life it has become.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to answer your email about charting. Sorry I've been such a slacker about it! I'll write back, I promise. And thanks for the shower card!
Cheers to your birthday! 26 is going to AMAZING for you!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous birthday! And I am sure this year is going to be your best ever :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday (again). :)
ReplyDeleteA year with no regrets ... that's beautiful. You know, when I think about it, I don't think my last year had any. Sure, small thngs here and there (mostly, I wish I had started writing my thesis/studying earlier, haha), but nothing big that I would have actually done different. And that is pretty amazing.
I bet this year will be even better for you. You have loads of things to look forward to.
